Wintzell's Oyster House was founded in 1938 as a six-stool oyster bar by J. Oliver Wintzell and is best known for its "oysters—fried, stewed or nude." Don't like 'em raw? Try a dozen chargrilled! While oysters headline the iconic brand, Wintzell's menu comprises fresh Gulf seafood dishes as well as regional favorites, including award-winning seafood gumbo, homemade bread pudding and two specialties native to Mobile: West Indies salad and fried crab claws. Wintzell's is designated by national and regional publications as a "must experience" destination for both locals and tourists alike.
